COM110 Course Information This site is dedicated to providing important information about Dr. Hunt's Com 110 course at Illinois State University.  Here you will find information about the course, tips for developing speeches, as well as links to other sites of interest.  Please remember that this site is currently under construction so check back often for updates!   Purpose of Language & Communication As noted in your Supplementary Materials Packet, the overall purpose of Language and Communication is to improve your ability to express yourself and to listen to others in a variety of communication settings.  Effective oral   communication is viewed as an essential life skill that every person must possess in order to function in today's society.  The course emphasizes participation in a variety of communication processes in order to develop, reinforce, and evaluate communication skills appropriate for public, small group, and interpersonal settings.
