Turkey Bowl raises money for ISU child care
The 20th annual WZND Turkey Bowl, hosted by Illinois State University’s student-run radio station, WZND/Z106, raised $1,500 on November 5 for the ISU Child Care Center.
WBNQ took home the Famous Traveling Turkey Bowl Plaque. The highest individual score went to Matt Gargano from WBNQ with 446 points, and WZND’s T. Veal received the frozen turkey for her first year, with the lowest score of 154 points for three games.
Turkey Bowl is a fundraising event for the local media to gather and raise money for the ISU Child Care Center. All media that participate in Turkey bowl have their own bowling team which competes in two regular games and a third game of crazy bowl. WZND was delighted to see a turnout of many media organizations including WJBC, WESN Radio, WBNQ Radio, Power 92.9, B104 Radio, 96.7 IRock, BOB FM, and ISU’s television station, TV-10, and newspaper, The Daily Vidette.
Turkey Bowl 2006 was held at Pheasant Lanes Bowling Alley in Bloomington. Raffle prizes were donated by business owners and organizations including Carlos O’Kelly’s, Casey’s Florist, The Comfort Inn, Flat Top Grill, Monical’s, Outback Steakhouse, TGI Friday’s, The Sunroom, Upper Limits Graphic Flesh, Wilson’s Cycle, and more.
