Grades

We're using Mallard, a software package, to provide you with access to your grades through this website. It allows you to view your grades for each assignment, along with class averages for so you can see how you compare with the rest of the class.

Here's how to access your grades online:

1. Click on Mallard Gradebook link (provided here and below), which will bring up the Mallard Login window. Type in your official ISU ULID and click the "Enter" button. If you haven't activated your campus account, you need to do so by following instructions through this link. If you have it and have forgotten it, do a search for your name in the ISU student listings through this link and the results will also include your official ULID.

2. Next window, type in your password, which is your Social Security number (no spaces, no dashes!) and click "Enter."

3. This is the Mallard Homepage for Communication 318. Click on the "View Grades" icon, then choose the "Grades Uploaded by Course Staff" link.

4. Now you should be able to see a long string of numbers indicating the scores for the various assignments to the point that I have them entered. Below that line of numbers you will see in red figures the class averages for each assignment and the possible points for each assignment.

Unfortunately the space for assignment names for each column is quite limited in Mallard, so you have to do some interpretation of the headings! From left to right, here are the columns to help you keep track.

Note at the far right of will be the total points, and finally your percentage of the total available points, which provides you with your current grade to date as indicated in the syllabus:

  • A = .90 and above
  • B = .80 - .89
  • C = .70 - .79
  • D = .60 - .69
  • F = .50 and below

If you have questions about the Mallard program or your scores, see me and we'll get it straightened out! Here's the link to the Mallard Comm 318 Gradebook.
