~ Comm 318 Webboard ~

This is the gateway to the course Webboard, which is an asynchronous online interactive space to share ideas, observations, and reactions.

I'm incorprating Webboard into the class to take advantage of several very specific benefits for your educational experience. In any class meeting, there is limited time for me AND you to hear what your classmates are thinking about the topics at hand. Only a small group of you are able to voice your ideas at any one time, but I know that many others have interesting and valuable contributions to the class. It seems to me to be quite a loss for everyone.

Although not perfect, the Webboard helps to address that limitation of in-class discussions. Using the Webboard allows everyone to contribute his or her ideas to the class and everyone to learn what classmates are thinking about course-related content. It also allows you to think about your contributions more extensively and perhaps improve the quality, as opposed to trying to formulate a thought in the short amount of time that class meetings offer.

You will be using the Webboard to submit mini-responses and (perhaps) for other discussions. These responses are the beginning of our dialogue on the issues at hand, which we will then bring into the face-to-face portions of the course. These will also be valuable for you in developing ideas for your response papers and perhaps even your term projects.
