SUMMER NEWS BRIEFS FROM TV-10:
* Broadcast Engineer Rick Kempf is retiring as of July 1, after nearly 32 years at ISU. RickKempf retirementHe has been one of TV-10's engineers for almost all of that time, fixing and maintaining equipment and making sure the daily newscast made it onto the local cable system. Rick is a veteran of the US Navy and also a graduate of ISU. He is also a trained weather spotter for the Lincoln Weather Service, an avid Ham Radio operator, and volunteers with other local organizations.
Several faculty and staff celebrated with him on his last day on the job, having lunch together and letting Rick share some of his many stories.
For those who are not around in the summer, we will have a more official Retirement Reception: Monday, August 24 from 2-4pm in the Fell Hall basement. Everyone is invited.

*New equipment is installed Thanks to generous financial help from the offices of CAS Dean Jim Payne and ISU Provost Sheri Noren Everts, TV-10 will be nearly tapeless this fall, with two new ENG cameras, six new networked edit stations operating with Final Cut Pro and a new playout server. The switch to Final Cut Pro will integrate newsroom and production editing with what is available in the Fell Hall computer labs. Broadcast Engineer Rob Whalen has been working since mid-June, installing the edit stations. After nearly 18 years as a part-timer, Rob will be TV-10's new full-time Broadcast Engineer, beginning July 13. He has been a full-time maintenance engineer at Peoria stations WHOI and WEEK, and is a US Army veteran.
